Final

For anyone, their life and identity are a mesh of their experiences and influences.  For my project, I collected a number of images that show the influences on my life.  How they influenced me is between the lines.

Fear Assignment

What is fear, fear is that feeling that tells you not to do something, or you will get hurt, emotionally, physically, or mentially.  Fear is irrational, it is not governed by logic, but by feeling, doubt, and thinking.

My Greatest fear is opening up, showing who I really am in entirety, so my experiment was to reveal who I really was.

What did I expect to happen, I though that we would have some discussion on some of the issues, and that in the resulting discussion, some people would get offended.

What happened was somewhat different, there was discussion on some of the issues, but not the ones that I had expected.

If I would do this experiment again, I would re-word one or two of the terms to be more recognizable, and have more of an official, accepted definition.

Blissfully exploring who you are

For my Bliss Assignment, I spent three hours with my little brothers.  We ended up playing on the Wii together, it was fun just spending some quality time with them.I think that the Bliss assignment was very important because we always get caught up in the daily grind of life and never take time just to enjoy ourselves.

One Idea that I had for the “Who you are” Assignment was a collage of Images that are within an outline of my body.

Fear Factor Analyzsas

Fear of Heights

I really enjoyed the fear of heights, the fear of other people’s type of fear of heights.  It went around the class in a very enjoyable style.   It began after a fear of being alone, in a, at first glance, a presentation that put me to a bit of calm.  It we also talked about the difference between phobias and fears.

Religion

Another discussion that was interesting was the one on religion.  I found out a lot about people’s beliefs, and their opinions about things, although all of the feel good nature of it almost made me sick.  All of this was good to get out.  I found out there are a lot more Christians in the class than I expected.  However, it felt like a college discussion of religion.  Politically Correct, until the word SAVED was mentioned, until people watered down the term.  During most of it, in my opinion, I have heard more diverse views of opinions in a political class.  I also heard a large amount of “tolerance” in the room.

Summary 3

Let’s See, What was most memorable about this class, I know, after my presentation, how everyone and their mother began to attack Rush Limbaugh, call him far right wing, radical, etc.  I formed consensus, around everyone but me.  Please tell me what is so radical about Rush Limbaugh, I shall address comments on a Comment by Comment Basis.

Assignment 3: Breaking the Rules

Breaking the rules has always been a tricky thing.  If you break them, you must suffer the consequences, no matter how well intentioned your breaking of them are.

Yet it can yield some great benefits.  Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh, for instance, after being fired 7 times for various reasons, went to Premiere Radio Networks with an idea, a radio show without any guests in studio, it would only be Rush and Callers for 3 hours a day.  Almost every expert in his field said that it wouldn’t work, it was not how talk radio was done.  They thought that he would fail.  He succeeded beyond everyone’s wildest dreams, or nightmares.

Other times it can have a far more reaching effect.  Rosa Parks refused to move to the back of the bus, when asked to move refused.  She accepted the consequences and was arrested, and told herself she would never face such humiliation again.  This lead to the Montgomery Bus Boycott, with brought a young reverend to national attention Martin Luther King Jr.

Breaking the rules is a dangerous thing, for every time that someone has broken the rules or traditions, many have failed miserably, or have only caused hurt, so what happens when your break the rules, normally disaster, but every so often something that changes everything.

Recap II Breaking the rules

I don’t think that I would change anything about my project 2.  It was tough enough for me to come up with it in the first place, I could not do it again.  The discussion about the law was interesting, in that, it was basically everyone agreeing with each other, with my ideas ignorred.

Assignment 2: Winds of Change

Not great inspiration begot this piece, I worked for hours to think about what to do for this project.  I used the intro page for the book: Just How Stupid Are We.  The Wind is causing the trees to move and the words of the pages to blow away.
