Summary 3

Let’s See, What was most memorable about this class, I know, after my presentation, how everyone and their mother began to attack Rush Limbaugh, call him far right wing, radical, etc.  I formed consensus, around everyone but me.  Please tell me what is so radical about Rush Limbaugh, I shall address comments on a Comment by Comment Basis.

Assignment 3: Breaking the Rules

Breaking the rules has always been a tricky thing.  If you break them, you must suffer the consequences, no matter how well intentioned your breaking of them are.

Yet it can yield some great benefits.  Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh, for instance, after being fired 7 times for various reasons, went to Premiere Radio Networks with an idea, a radio show without any guests in studio, it would only be Rush and Callers for 3 hours a day.  Almost every expert in his field said that it wouldn’t work, it was not how talk radio was done.  They thought that he would fail.  He succeeded beyond everyone’s wildest dreams, or nightmares.

Other times it can have a far more reaching effect.  Rosa Parks refused to move to the back of the bus, when asked to move refused.  She accepted the consequences and was arrested, and told herself she would never face such humiliation again.  This lead to the Montgomery Bus Boycott, with brought a young reverend to national attention Martin Luther King Jr.

Breaking the rules is a dangerous thing, for every time that someone has broken the rules or traditions, many have failed miserably, or have only caused hurt, so what happens when your break the rules, normally disaster, but every so often something that changes everything.

Recap II Breaking the rules

I don’t think that I would change anything about my project 2.  It was tough enough for me to come up with it in the first place, I could not do it again.  The discussion about the law was interesting, in that, it was basically everyone agreeing with each other, with my ideas ignorred.

Assignment 2: Winds of Change

Not great inspiration begot this piece, I worked for hours to think about what to do for this project.  I used the intro page for the book: Just How Stupid Are We.  The Wind is causing the trees to move and the words of the pages to blow away.

Class 2

I think the think that stood out most in the class was the discussion we had on food. It was memorable, and it continued to pop up all though-out class.
I think that seeing the plethora of different projects got me thinking the most about the various things that I could do.

Assignment 1: The Eggfil Tower

The Eggfil tower is my twist on a familiar tower.  I received my inspiration for making this while watching a show called Engineering an Empire.  Someone called the Eiffel Tower the representation of a ideal democracy.  Well, my tower shows the fragility of the ideal democracy.  The Base, in this case representing the common folk, and the top, representing the Elite.  Both are separated by mere egg, a fragile thing.  It only take a few people to make the “ideal democracy” collapse into a messy, egg covered slop.

Great Expectations

Seeing how I have had Beth for class before I have great expectations for this class.  I expect us to do a large number of interesting projects that make me think about how things are done in New Media.  I have also heard rumors about this class being a little outlandish.  But I expect to have fun.
